In the example you gave, you have a person who did something good for a selfish reason. But there can also be the sort of person who does something good just because it needs to be done. They might start off as more of a bad person and grow into a sort of hero, but still end up being a very flawed person who wouldn't say they were "trying to do the right thing."<br /><br />As an example, I'd consider Captain Jack Sparrow. In the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, his goal is to get revenge on Barbossa and get his ship back. Sure, he ALSO defeats the undead menace and saves the day in the process, but there's no point in that movie where I would say Jack was "trying to do something good." He had his own selfish reasons for wanting to defeat the villain. The fact that he saved lives in the process was just a bonus.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
